DESCRIPTION: Lars Perner is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Marketing at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.  He holds a Ph.D. in marketing from USC, and a bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology and an MBA from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo.  Diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at age 31, Lars has the perfect job for an “Aspie”—getting paid to talk about his special interests in great detail.  He serves on the Panel of Spectrum advisors for the Autism Society of America, on the boards of the San Diego County and Los Angeles chapters of the ASA, and on the Advisory Board of the Global and Regional Asperger Syndrome Partnership (GRASP).  After his diagnosis, Lars developed a considerable interest in the paradoxes of the autism spectrum and has written extensively on topics such as college preparation, cognition, abstraction, special interests, autism subtypes, and the “big picture” of autism.  Lars was born in Denmark and immigrated to the United States with his family at age 14.
